KVVAK X PAN 2025: Talk & Tour

To mark 425 years of relations between Japan and the Netherlands, the KVVAK and the SJA, together with PAN Amsterdam, are organising a special talk on 4 November at 5 p.m. about Philipp Franz von Siebold, the passionate researcher and collector who brought Japan and the Netherlands closer together. This year, PAN has chosen Japan as its theme, inspired by the fact that 425 years ago, the Dutch ship De Liefde arrived in Japan.

Chris Uhlenbeck (Hotei Japanese Prints) will talk to Arlette Kouwenhoven (author of Brandende IJver: Siebold, de biografie), Daan Kok (curator of East Asia, Wereldmuseum) and Geron-Henry Clarkson Reijnen (KVVAK board member and collector of Japanese art) about Siebold’s legacy and the significance of his collection and research for both countries.

This will be followed by a guided tour of the Asian art galleries on the exhibition floor and there will be time for drinks afterwards.

This event is free to attend during the fair. A limited number of free tickets will be made available to members. To be eligible for a free ticket, please register using the form at the bottom of this page for the Talk & Tour and the free ticket form.
