Lectures-afternoon on Chinese Ceramics
The KVVAK cordially invites its members to a lecture afternoon on Chinese ceramics with lectures by Drs. Feng Chun Ma and Dr. Christine Ketel.
Dr. Christine Ketel will speak on “The Dutch Demand for Porcelain. The Maritime Distribution of Chinese Ceramics and The Dutch East India Company (VOC), First Half of the 17th Century”.
Drs. Feng-Chun Ma will discuss the motif of the “Hundred Boys” – a common decorative theme on Chinese ceramics, ivory, bronze, jade, and textiles. This motif reflects deep-rooted cultural values in a society where having sons and carrying on the family name were of great importance.
Kindly note that both lectures will be held in Dutch.
More information and the full program will follow. However, you can already sign up at the bottom of the page!
