Museum de Buitenplaats – Piet Sebens. The bowl and I

Piet Sebens (1961) is primarily a painter of still lifes, in which ceramic objects have frequently featured from the beginning. This exhibition shows Piet Sebens’s still lifes in combination with ceramics from his own collection depicted in them. In addition there are beautiful loans from the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics in Leeuwarden, especially from the Chinese Song dynasty, Sebens’s favourite period.

On the first floor you will find portraits, life studies and landscapes. These paintings constitute a smaller part of Sebens’s oeuvre and betray a quicker and looser method of working.
